The Simplehuman Garden Trowel is designed to reflect the brand's commitment to efficiency, durability, and sustainability. With a clean, minimalist aesthetic, this tool enhances the gardening experience by combining ergonomic comfort with high-quality materials built to last.
Simplehuman is a California-based brand known for its innovative kitchen, bath, and beauty tools. Guided by the philosophy, "We design tools that help people become more efficient at home," the company integrates technology and thoughtful design to improve everyday tasks. Their products prioritize:
Durability - High-quality materials that minimize waste through longevity.
Efficiency - Features that simplify tasks, such as motion sensors and easy-clean surfaces.
Premium Experience - A sleek, minimalist aesthetic and subscription system for trash liner & soap refills.

Hand trowels are essential for digging, transplanting, weeding, and soil preparation in both indoor and outdoor gardening. Traditionally made of stainless steel with rubber, wood, or plastic handles, trowels often face issues like bending, breaking, and rusting over time.

To improve ergonomics and durability, I studied the structural weaknesses of similar tools such as shovels and serving spoons. Like trowels, these tools must withstand force, resist corrosion, and be easy to clean to prevent contamination.

Simplehuman Garden Trowel is designed to provide customers with a durable, ergonomic tool that ensures a comfortable grip, making gardening effortless both indoors and outdoors.

To ensure the garden trowel aligns with market expectations and Simplehuman's existing product line, I conducted research at Home Depot, studying how garden tools are packaged and displayed. Additionally, I visited Target to analyze Simplehuman's in-store presentation, ensuring my design seamlessly integrates with the brand's established aesthetic and retail strategy.
